The Taiwan Sign Language research group is led by Prof. James H.-Y. Tai of the Institute of Linguistics at National Chung Cheng University since 2001. With hard work, the group has become a bellwether in Taiwan, and has been valued and affirmed in the field of international linguistics. In order to operate and promote sign linguistics research in Taiwan continuously, and to build an international academic exchange platform for comparing sign linguistics across the world, the Taiwan Center for Sign Linguistics is found in 2016.
